of criticism which says McLuhan was simply a
global millennial optimist. And this came in part
from looking at some of his comments on the
global village. Under electronic conditions, the
world will resemble a global village. Well to be fair,
McLuhan never said everybody would get along.
Nor did he with his views of tribalism and ethnic
revivals and identity politics such as race and
women. Nor did he ever give the impression that
what he was talking about was some fait accompli,
